Every year we support poor and needy families by providing healthcare subsidies, sometimes up to 100% on the total bill.
Around 25% of all the people who access healthcare from Jan Chetna Manch Bokaro (JCMB) gets subsidies for services related to pregnancy & childbirth, women's health care & pre-term baby care, clinic consultations and mental health treatment.
Of all the subsidies we provide, 50% of the subsidies goes for looking after our pre-term babies.
Preterm baby care
Some of the babies born at the Chetna Women’s Health Centre are very preterm. Born at 28 weeks and weighing as low as 900 gms. Even though the bed charges are much below the market rate, the bills add up for babies that need to stay with us for 2 to 3 months. Sometimes JCMB has had to heavily subsidise cost of care up to ₹50,000 in order to save the lives of these tiny babies. Your contribution – of any amount – will help us to continue to save them.
Pregnancy and Childbirth
The cost of care for normal births is usually affordable for poor families that access our services. However in case of complications, such as when a cesarean section is needed, or blood transfusion is required, poor families find it financially difficult. ₹10,000 can help such women receive quality care, without selling their assets to pay the bill.
Mental Health Treatment
JCMB has been fortunate to get the support of the Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi, for its mental health programme. However medicines are not provided free of cost. JCMB has been subsidizing the cost of medication to around 65 patients each month. Most of these patients have long standing mental health problems, such as epilepsy, and need long term medication. Without our subsidised care many patients would be unable to continue treatment. ₹3000 would support the cost of one such patient for the whole year.
