Jan Chetna Manch Bokaro believes women's empowerment is the cornerstone of any developmental activity. Empowered women lead to healthier families, flourishing children, and a happier society.
For over two decades, JCMB has facilitated the formation of women’s self-help groups (SHGs), viewing them as a means to empower women beyond providing financial aid.
Weekly Meetings: Groups of 15-20 women meet weekly to manage financial affairs, empowering them through collective decision-making.
Federation Establishment: In the late 90s, JCMB facilitated the creation of a federation of all the existing SHGs which was called the ‘Mahila Mandal Samiti’.
Autonomous Cooperative: In 2009, the federation was registered as a co-operative society under Jharkhand Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies Act and was named as Chetna SHG Mahila Swabalambi Sahkari Samiti Ltd.
Protests: Against sexual and domestic violence, denial of entitlements, and corruption.
Annual Gathering: Celebrating International Women’s Day on or around March 8th.
Organising Other Activities: Dancing competitions, women sports and cultural events, and celebrating local traditions.
